COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Carrying a three-match win streak over Texas A&M into the match Wednesday night, the Bears couldn't hold a one-set advantage in a five-set loss (20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-25, 5-15) in College Station, Texas.

After losing the first set and facing a four-point deficit in the second, Baylor (11-6, 0-3) regrouped to win the second and dominate the third set for a 2-1 lead. From there, the Aggies (12-3, 1-1) came back with a big comeback to win the next two sets by double digits for the conference victory.

"It was a hard-fought match, and we had the chance to put it away after going up 2-1," head coach Jim Barnes said. "But, unfortunately we let them back in it. We have to be a team that is able to put another team away. Bri (Tolbert) started strong, and she and Kate really connected well. I am really proud of Kayci (Evans) in one of her first matches to start, I thought she did a tremendous job."

Baylor's offense hit below .150 in each of the three sets it lost and better than .235 in two winning sets. Texas A&M racked up 72 kills compared to BU's 45, and out-hit the Bears .262 to .136. The Aggies' Kelsey Black was one of five on her team with at least 10 kills, leading the match with 17.

Senior Briana Tolbert and junior Alyssa Dibbern carried the load offensively for Baylor, notching 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Tolbert had a .321 hitting percentage to lead the Bears. Getting her first start of the season at setter, Kate Harris responded with career-highs of 39 assists and 22 digs for her first double-double. Senior Allison King added 16 digs, while Tolbert and Dibbern each had three blocks.

Baylor came out trading points with TAMU in the first set, tying the match at 6-6 before the Aggies broke it open with a 5-1 run. Torri Campbell was in on two block assists to divert set point twice, but Texas A&M held their ground and took the first 25-20.

The second set appeared to be going the same way for Baylor as the Aggies built an 18-14 lead in the same fashion, but Baylor came out of a timeout with a 5-0 run. After four Aggie errors, Nora notched the go-ahead kill to end the run. Tolbert then took over, breaking open a 20-20 tie with three kills to lead BU to the 25-22 set win.

In the third, Baylor came out on a mission, sprinting to a 5-1 lead with five Aggie errors. Dibbern picked up a solo block during the run and Baylor would not let TAMU get within four the rest of the way. After an Aggie block made the score 20-16, Dibbern spiked home two kills and Tolbert added one to finish off the set 25-19.

The fourth and fifth sets were mirror images of the first set as Baylor struggled to find offensive consistency. Baylor hit .129 in the fourth and -.105 in the fifth, while Texas A&M hit over .310 in the fourth and .471 in the fifth on the way to the win. The Bears fell 25-15 in set four and 15-5 in set five. The loss marked Baylor's first loss in the last four five-set matches, dating back to November of last season.

Baylor will be back on the court in the Ferrell Center on Saturday, taking on the University of Kansas at 7 p.m. The Bears and Jayhawks will each be looking for their first Big 12 win of the season.
