WACO, Texas - Baylor, considered to be a preseason Top-15 team by several media outlets, will face Saint Mary's and West Virginia in the final two games of the 2011 iBN Sports Las Vegas Classic. The iBN Sports Las Vegas Classic will be held Dec. 22-23 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
More than a year after squaring off in a Sweet 16 game at Houston's Reliant Stadium, Baylor and Saint Mary's will once again meet on a neutral floor Dec. 22 at 9 p.m. CT. In the only other series meeting (March 26, 2010), Baylor, the No. 3 seed in the NCAA South Regional, defeated Saint Mary's, 72-49, to advance to the program's first Elite Eight of the modern tournament era.
The final game of the Las Vegas Classic against West Virginia will be televised nationally Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. It will mark the first meeting between the two schools. With the addition of the West Virginia game, Baylor will play a minimum of 12 regular-season games on the ESPN family of networks, including three in non-conference play.
The 11th annual iBN Sports Las Vegas Classic features eight teams, with each team playing four games. The first two games will be played at campus sites, while the final two rounds will be played in Las Vegas. For its two campus-site games, Baylor will host Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 14) and Paul Quinn (Dec. 19), which replaced the originally scheduled Kennesaw State.
Tickets for the final rounds in Las Vegas can be purchased through the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office (254-710-1000) or by calling the Orleans Arena Box Office (702-284-7777 or 888-234-2334) or on the web at www.orleansarena.com.
