LAWRENCE, Kan. - Down 2-0, Baylor (13-6, 0-4) rallied to force a fifth set, but ultimately fell 3-2 (17-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-23, 11-15) at No. 24 Kansas (16-2, 4-0) Saturday evening at the Horejsi Center. The loss marks the fourth-straight to a ranked opponent to open Big 12 play.

"I am really proud of the way we fought back tonight," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We had a slow start to the night, and that ultimately cost us. We have had the toughest schedule in conference so far, and hopefully we can start stringing together some wins."

Zoe Adom recorded a career high 20 kills, swinging .314 on the evening. Alyssa Dibbern notched 12 kills, while Torri Campbell added 11 for BU. Hope Ogden registered her own career high with 19 digs, as Kate Harris picked up her 10th double-double (55 assists, 10 digs).

Baylor's block was a key to the comeback, as the 13.5 blocks were the third highest of the season. Adri Nora led the way with seven stuffs.

The Bears swung just .111 in the opening set. Tied at 10, the Jayhawks went on a 5-1 run to take the final lead of the game, winning 25-17.

Trailing 21-13 in the second set, it seemed to just not be Baylor's night, but that is where the momentum turned. BU went on a 10-1 run that saw eight points come off the serve of Kayci Evans, and take a one-point lead. Tied at 24-24, two bad passes doomed the Bears to a 26-24 loss. Despite hitting .082, the Bears had found its momentum for the third.

After the first point of the third went to KU, Baylor never trailed again, hitting .583 in the set en route to a 25-17 win. The Bears used 3.5 blocks along with five kills apiece from Dibbern and Adom to hold the Kansas attack at-bay, as the BU offense went without an error in the third.

Baylor jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fourth, forcing an early KU timeout. A 9-6 BU advantage was as large a lead as either team would have the rest of the set until the Bears pulled away at 24-21 on a kill from Adom. With the lead down to one, Harris found Adom for her seventh kill of the set, forcing a fifth game, 25-23.

Despite outhitting the Jayhawks .278 to .235 in the fifth, four service errors proved costly for the Bears, falling 15-11.

The loss was the first five-set defeat for Baylor, which moved to 2-1 in full-length affairs.

Baylor will return home to face Texas Tech (11-9, 0-4) Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 pm at the Ferrell Center.
