TF: Richardson Earns Big 12 Community Award

IRVING, Texas - Baylor track and field senior Diamond Richardson was chosen as the school's representative for the Big 12 Chick-Fil-A Winter Community of Champions award, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Richardson, an All-American on the track and NCAA Elite 88 award winner in the classroom, was one of 10 student-athletes league-wide chosen for the award based on three criteria: academics, community service and leadership/sportsmanship.
- Academics: An academic standard of a 3.00 grade point average or higher must be maintained.
- Community Service: The designated student-athlete should be involved with at least one community service program. The program(s) could be a student organization on campus or within the athletics department.
- Leadership/Sportsmanship: The student-athlete should demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field.
Each Big 12 member institution is represented on the list of 10 award recipients and will be awarded $4,500 from Chick-Fil-A as a result of its activities within the community.
Richardson, a native of DeSoto, Texas, has had a decorated career in her four years at Baylor. On the track, she has earned two All-America honors and 11 all-Big 12 honors, as well as a Big 12 and Midwest Region 4x400-meter relay title. Along with her Elite 88 award in academics, she is a seven-time Big 12 Commissioner's honor roll recipient, two-time academic all-Big 12 selection and two-time CoSIDA academic all-district selection.
