Complete 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Release

IRVING, Texas - Baylor senior Jaclyn Jansen was named to the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf second team, the conference office announced Wednesday. Jansen earned second-team recognition for the fourth consecutive year.

Baylor increases its total to 38 Academic All-Big 12 selections and has had at least one Academic All-Big 12 performer in each of the last eight seasons.

Jansen, a general studies major, has carded two tournament victories this season - at Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate in October and the BancorpSouth Rebel Intercollegiate earlier this month. The Effingham, Ill., native ranks third on the team with a 73.62 scoring average in 21 rounds, while posting four top-25 finishes. After sharing individual medalist honors at the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate, she was named the Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for October.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the academic golf squad consisted of 41 first team members (25 women, 17 men) and 13 second team selections (eight women, six men). First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second-team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Baylor closes out its spring schedule April 21-22 at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
