Browder & Vick Named Academic All-District

WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball student-athletes Kolt Browder and Logan Vick were named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Friday.
Baylor has now had at least two players named academic all-district in each of the last seven seasons with 18 total honors in that span. Browder and Vick were honored for the second time, as they both earned second-team honors in 2011. CoSIDA named only one team for each district this season.
With their honors, Browder and Vick are eligible for Academic All-America honors. Chris Slater was named a first-team Academic All-America last year, giving the Bears 10 Academic All-Americans since 1998.
Browder, a junior engineering major from Coldspring, Texas, is one of eight Division I student-athletes to be named academic all-district with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He has pitched in 12 games this season, posting a 3.14 ERA with one save and 14 strikeouts over 14.1 innings.
Vick, a junior business major from Kerrville, Texas, has started 45 of Baylor's 46 games in center field. He leads the Big 12 Conference with 18 doubles and ranks eighth in the league with a .346 batting average. Vick also ranks fourth in the league with 30 walks, and his 121 career walks are one shy of 10th place on the Big 12's all-time list.
Browder and Vick account for half of the four academic all-district honorees representing the Big 12, joining Texas Tech's Scott LeJeune and Texas A&M's Ross Stripling. Baylor and Texas State are the only District VII teams with multiple honorees.
To be eligible for academic all-district teams, student-athletes must be starters or important reserves with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages. Candidates also must complete at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and be at least sophomores athletically.
Baylor is 38-8 on the season and ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in every national poll. The Bears return from a 10-day break when they travel to San Marcos, Texas, for a 6:30 p.m. game on Wednesday against Texas State.
