LAKE CHARLES, La. - Baylor (8-1) withstood a hostile home crowd en route to a 3-1 win over McNeese State (5-6) 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19) Friday evening in match two of the Big Daddy's Invitational. The Bears have won four-straight matches and are off to their best start thru nine matches since 2009 (9-0).

"Give McNeese State credit because they battled us very hard," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We had some kids come off the bench and really step up to deliver for us."

Alyssa Dibbern (15 kills) recorded her fourth-straight match of 10-plus kills and Adri Nora added a season high 15 kills as well. Defensively, Mackenzie Mayo collected 18 digs and Nora stuffed five blocks. Kate Harris picked up her second-straight double-double with 54 assists and 10 digs.

The Bears, who swung no worse than .222 in any set, ended the night with a .245 hitting percentage and held the Cowgirls to a .184 percentage.

Baylor led by as many as four (15-11) in the opening set thanks to a 5-0 run off the serve of Mackenzie Mayo. The Cowgirls got to within one but no closer, as Adri Nora paced BU with five kills (.714), while Alyssa Dibbern and Zoe Adom each collected four.

McNeese garnered an early 3-1 lead but Baylor answered with a 6-1 run and force a Cowgirls timeout. MSU battled it back to tie the set on several occasions and took a 22-20 lead. It was the Bears turn to make a run for a 23-22 advantage, but McNeese State closed the set with three straight for the 25-23 win. Nora kept up her hot hitting, totaling four kills in the set.

Baylor's attack came out firing in set three, taking a 5-0 lead and maintaining the advantage until the Cowgirls tied the set at 19-19, eventually taking a 21-20 lead. The Bears reeled off three-straight, ending it with a solo block from Thea Munch-Soegaard for the25-23 win. Dibbern's five kills led the way with Nora and Laura Jones adding four apiece.

The Bears again took an early lead, scoring five of the game's first six points and stretching their lead to as many as 10 (18-8) off an 8-0 run from Kayci Evans' serve. McNeese would find itself no closer than five the rest of the way, as Dibbern totaled four kills en route to a .267 team hitting percentage in the set.

Baylor will next be in action Saturday morning at 9 am to face Bethune Cookman (0-10).
