THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - Jordan Anderson's 18 kills helped West Virginia beat Baylor in four sets, 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22 Saturday afternoon at the Ferrell Center. The Mountaineers (19-12, 5-10) spoiled Baylor's (12-19, 4-11) senior day and broke a sixth-place tie in the Big 12 standings.

Baylor's Zoe Adom and Kayci Evans each had strong matches in their final home matches. Both players are four-year lettermen for the Bears, and Adom had 13 kills while Evans had a season-high 17 digs in the loss for Baylor.

Baylor led 20-14 in set one before the Mountaineers closed with an 11-3 run, highlighted by three blocks from Evyn McCoy and Nikki Attea during the run. The Bears dropped set two before forcing a fourth set with a win in set three. In the final set, Baylor trailed 21-17 before the Bears scored three-straight points to cut the lead to one. However, WVU scored four of the last six points and took the victory.

Baylor and West Virginia split the season series after Baylor's road win Oct. 9 in three sets. The victory was the first in school history for WVU over Baylor.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Zoe Adom's 13 kills against WVU gives her a chance to reach the 900 mark for her career in Baylor's final match against Texas in Austin, Nov. 30. Adom enters the match with the Longhorns with 887 career kills.
  • Kayci Evans recorded a season-high 17 digs in her final match at the Ferrell Center, and she surpassed the 600-career digs mark; she'll carry 610 into Baylor's final match of the season Nov. 30 at Texas.
  • Tola Itiola had a season-high nine kills for Baylor.
  • Hope Ogden had the ninth double-digit digs match of the season with 10 digs.
  • Mackenzie Mayo's nine digs helped her surpass the 450-mark for her career and will carry 451 career digs into the Nov. 30 match with Texas.

43 - Zoe Adom recorded the 43rd double-digit kill match of her career with 13 in Saturday's loss for Baylor.

35 - WVU's Jordan Anderson combined for 35 kills in seven sets against BU this year, averaging an even 5.0 kills per set.
