Women's Tennis Blanks Penn State, 7-0

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas -
The 19th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team swept its opponent for the second consecutive match, downing the 49th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, 7-0, at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday.

In doubles action, the 37th-ranked Baylor duo of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle claimed the first win over Carmen Sandor and Katia Blik, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. Next, BU's Jordaan Sanford and Alex Clay fell to Marie Bedard and Dasha Sapogova, 6-3. To claim the doubles point for Baylor, Kiah Generette and Alex Leatu defeated Taylor Shukow and Katherine Whiteaway, 6-2.

The Lady Bears swept all six of the singles match. Shankle snagged the first win defeating Marie Bedard, 6-1, 6-2. Sanford took down Dasha Sapogova, 6-2, 6-0, and Leatu defeated Taylor Shukow, 6-2, 6-0, to clinch the match.

Meanwhile, 38th-ranked Generette beat Katia Blik, 6-0, 6-2 and Kisialeava fought for a win over Carmen Sandor, 6-1, 6-4. To end the night, Makenzie Craft bounced back from a first-set loss to earn the win in a third-set tie-breaker against Katherine Whiteaway, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.

With the win, Baylor improved to 6-0 on the season, while handing Penn State (3-1) its first loss of the season. BU now owns a 3-0 record all-time vs. the Nittany Lions.
