VB Drops Five-Set Heartbreaker to TTU

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - After dropping the first set, Baylor appeared to regain momentum by winning sets two and three convincingly, but Texas Tech battled back to take a 26-24, 17-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-13 win over the Bears at the Ferrell Center Wednesday night.
The Red Raiders (14-1, 2-1 Big 12) hit .393 in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set while holding BU to a .027 hitting percentage in the fourth frame. Texas Tech also used 19.0 blocks to down Baylor (10-16, 1-1 Big 12) at home for the first time since Oct. 13, 2004.
Baylor's Andie Malloy posted a career-high 22 kills in the loss while Sam Hill tied career highs in both kills (11) and blocks (8) in the losing effort. Baylor hit .140 overall, but combined to hit .029 in the final two sets.
Texas Tech's Jenna Allen led the Red Raiders with 15 kills and TTU had three players with double-figures offensively. The Red Raiders also snapped a four-match losing skid to the Bears.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Andie Malloy had a career-high 22 kills on a .236 hitting percentage in the loss, and she added her eighth double-double of the season.
• Sam Hill tied career highs in both kills and blocks with 11 and eight, respectively.
• Adrien Richburg had 13 kills on a .346 hitting percentage and added a season-high with six blocks.
• Amy Rosenbaum posted her fourth double-double in the last six matches with 54 assists and 14 digs.
• Jana Brusek had a season-high 19 digs while Ashley Myer added 10.
• Laura Jones added nine kills and five blocks for Baylor.
• Thea Munch-Soegaard surpassed the 500-career digs mark with her seventh of the match, and finished with nine.
STAT OF THE GAME I
19-15 - Baylor recorded a season-high 15 blocks in the loss, but gave up a season-high 19 to the Red Raiders.
