WACO, Texas - Baylor track and field head coach Todd Harbour released his squad's 2015 schedule on Wednesday, which features six indoor meets and a total of 11 outdoor competitions.
BU will open the indoor season on the road at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Jan. 17. That meet is followed by a trip to Lexington, Ky., for the Rod McCravy Invite on Jan. 23-24.
"Our indoor schedule is pretty much the same as a year ago," Harbour said. "We have a chance to get prepared for conference action by going to Kentucky and competing on the oversized track there."
The Bears will be off the first weekend in February, before heading back to College Station for the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational on Feb. 6-7. The following weekend, Baylor will travel north to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 13-14, in the final meet before postseason action.
The Big 12 Indoor Championships will be held on Feb. 27-28 in Ames, Iowa. Postseason action will continue for qualified athletes at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., March 13-14.
Baylor's outdoor schedule begins with three straight weekends of competition starting on March 19-20 with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
"We have a lot of excitement for the outdoor season," Harbour said. "To be able to run twice on our new track is going to be special. It is tough to put into words how excited we are about having that opportunity. Texas Relays and Drake Relays are good meets that will prepare us well for the end of the season where we always want to be performing at our very best."
On March 25-28, Baylor will head to Austin for the first of three meets in the state's capital as the Bears participate in the Texas Relays. That same weekend on March 26-28, select student-athletes will be in San Marcos, Texas, to compete at the Bobcat Invitational.
The inaugural event at the new Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium will be on April 3 as the Bears host teams for the Baylor Invitational.
The next weekend will be an off-weekend for BU, before again having hosting duties for the annual Michael Johnson Classic on April 18.
BU returns to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, April 22-24.
Baylor athletes will again be in two locations on the final weekend of regular-season competition with the majority of the team at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin on May 2. Select distance runners will be at the Payton Jordan Invitational on that same date in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Bears will have a week off, before heading back to Ames, Iowa, for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, May 15-17.
The 2015 slate wraps up with NCAA competition beginning with the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, May 28-30, in Austin, Texas. The NCAA Championships will be held June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
