VB Snaps Losing Skid with Win over ULL

WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team picked up its elusive 11th win of the season Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center with a 25-18, 25-20, 24-26, 25-12 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. Baylor hit .265 as a team and Andie Malloy collected 17 kills and 20 digs to help the Bears end a four-match losing streak.
Baylor played host to its final non-conference match with ULL before it will close the season with 11 Big 12 matches. The Bears had just one blunder in the third set where they suffered nine hitting errors, which allowed the Ragin' Cajuns to force a fourth set as the visitors took the third 26-24.
However, the Bears limited ULL to a -.032 hitting percentage in the final set and went on to improve to 11-9 on the season. In the losing effort Sara Mossakowski had 14 kills for ULL, and the Ragin' Cajuns dropped to 15-6 on the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Andie Malloy posted her team-leading 11th double-double with 17 kills (.289) and a career-high 20 digs.
? Tola Itiola had 10 kills (.471), which was her first double-digit kill match since Sept. 12 when she had 12 against Illinois State.
? Nicole Bardaji had eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage, her highest hitting mark of the season.
? Amy Rosenbaum and Morgan Reed each enjoyed success in Baylor's newly implemented 6-2 strategy; Rosenbaum had 25 assists while Reed had 19 assists and seven digs.
? Hope Ogden led Baylor with 12 digs while Thea Munch-Soegaard added 11.
STAT OF THE GAME I
8 - Baylor had eight services aces, the second most this season in four sets for the Bears (9, vs. Rice Sept. 2) and Malloy had three.
