WACO, Texas -
Four Baylor women's tennis players combined to win four singles matches and one doubles contest at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships at the Hurd Tennis Center on Thursday.

Freshman Kelley Anderson was 2-0 in singles on the first day of action. She took down Whitney Williams of Abilene Christian, 6-3, 6-3, in the round of 128, before knocking off SMU's Macie Elliot, 6-3, 6-1.

Meanwhile, the 37th-ranked Kiah Generette and the 78th-ranked Blair Shankle each had first round byes.

In the second round, the fifth-seeded Generette dispatched of Texas A&M's Mason Strickland, 6-1, 7-5. The 16th-seeded Shankle blew past Mila Milanovic of Sam Houston State, 6-1, 6-1, to close out the day.

In doubles action, Generette partnered with Rachael James-Baker to open the day with a 8-6 victory over Christine Foote and Verena Scott of UT Arlington, 8-6.

WHAT'S NEXT
The tournament continues Friday morning with doubles matches at 9 a.m., followed by another round of singles action at the Hurd Tennis Center. In doubles, the third-seeded Anderson and Shankle will begin their tournament run vs. Reegan Greenwood and Katia Stavroulaki (UTPA), while Generette and James-Baker face Durkin and Solomiy Zinko (Rice). In singles action starting at 10:15 a.m., Shankle will take on Savannah Durkin of Rice. Generette battles Danielle Wagland of Texas and Anderson faces Texas' Ryann Foster.
