Final Stats

THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas
- Baylor soccer suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 19 Texas Tech on Friday evening at John Walker Soccer Complex. In a hard-fought match, the Bears (8-6-2, 2-3-1 Big 12) were unable to get the equalizer after the Red Raiders' (13-3-1, 3-1-1 Big 12) late second period goal.

The first half could not have been much closer as it ended with no goals. Both teams fired off five shots and had one on goal. Baylor had a 2-0 edge in corner kicks. But the second half was a different story.

Texas Tech ended up holding large edges in second period shots (11-1), shots on goal (5-1) and corners (6-0). BU's stout defense was able to hold up for most of the Red Raider second half attack, except in the 71st minute. A shot that was saved by BU goalie Michelle Kloss was not corralled and ended up finding Janine Beckie's foot for a quick strike and 1-0 lead for TTU.

From there, the Bears only had one good scoring chance. That came in the 81st minute on a shot by Justine Hovden but it was saved by TTU goalie Lauren Watson.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"When you're on the road and playing a top team, ranked team, in your conference, it's going to be a tough match. You need a little extra to beat a team like that at their place. It's not the result we wanted but we played a tough match. We have to move on and regroup and prepare for Texas, who had a nice win tonight."
-- Baylor Co-Head Coach Paul Jobson
