WACO, Texas - WACO, Texas (AP) - - Royce O'Neale had 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead Baylor to a 67-51 win over Stephen F. Austin.
Taurean Prince scored 15 and Lester Medford had 12 points for Baylor (4-0).
Jared Johnson had 16 points, Thomas Walkup scored 11 and Jacob Parker scored 10 for Stephen F. Austin (1-3).
Baylor used a 14-0 run late in the first half to break open a tie game. At 19-19 with 6:04 left, Prince hit a 3 to open the sequence. He later made two free throws in the run, and Rico Gathers had a free throw, offensive rebound and putback, leaving Baylor up 33-19 with 1:16 remaining.
Earlier in the half, the teams traded 3-point baskets that left Baylor up 18-13 with 8:30 left in the first half.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior Royce O'Neale put up the ninth double-double of his career and his fourth in a Baylor uniform. He finished the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
• O'Neale's 14 rebounds were a career high (12, vs. Texas Tech (3/1/14), vs. TCU (3/12/14) ), including 10 in the first half. It was the eighth time in his career that he reached double figures in rebounding. It was the first double-figure scoring game of the season for him and the 11th of his career.
• Junior Rico Gathers finished with 11 rebounds; It was the third time this season and 17th time of his career with double-figure rebounding numbers.
• Junior forward Taurean Prince finished with 15 points; he has two games this season with double-figure scoring, and it was the 14th time in his career.
• Prince tied a career-high with three steals (vs. TCU, 1/1/14) and set a new career-high with four blocks (1, nine times).
• Lester Medord reached double figures for the third time in four outings in a Baylor uniform; he finished with 12 points.
