FORT WORTH, Texas - To open the Big 12 Championships, the 14th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team swept eighth-seeded and 68th-ranked Kansas, 4-0, on Friday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The victory pushed the Lady Bears into the event's semifinals for the 11th straight season. BU also claimed its 12th-straight win, including nine consecutive over ranked opponents.
In doubles, Victoria Kisialeva and Jordaan Sanford snapped a three-match losing streak with an 8-2 win over Dylan Windom and Paulina Los on court No. 1. Minutes later, Ema Burgic and Kiah Generette got past Maria Cardona and Belen Ludena, 8-2 on court 2. At that point Alex Clay and Blair Shankle match was abandoned, despite the duo being at one point away from clinching the contest.
In singles, the 42nd-ranked Generette recorded a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory over Windom at the No. 1 spot. Alex Leatu followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 5 over Nastya Trubich.
No. 92 Burgic clinched the match for the Lady Bears as she downed Cardon, 6-2, 6-2 on court two.
The loss dropped Kansas to 11-12 on the year.

Baylor will now face the winner of No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oklahoma on Saturday at 3 p.m. BU defeated both of those teams by 6-1 scores earlier this year in Waco.
