BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement:
"Not that I didn't like the last four games with the last possession deciding it, but this one was a little bit easier, and a little bit more enjoyable. I was really proud of how the guys executed down the stretch. The crowd really gave us a big lift, and we really can't thank them enough. We were 8-for-8 from the free throw line and shot 50 percent, so the only thing we were disappointed with were our turnovers, so we've got to work on that. But I was really proud of how we executed down the stretch, because, like any Big 12 team, this is a great team that made us work really hard to get a win."

On his team's defense in the last seven minutes:
"I thought we really fed off of the crowd's energy. Both teams are tired at that point, and that's where the home crowd gets you through. We get a stop, the crowd goes crazy then we come down and get a basket, the crowd goes crazy and now we have energy to get another stop. So we just feed off it, which is what makes it so hard to win on the road in the Big 12 - we have great fans."

On his team's performance in the closing minutes:
"I think, at the beginning of the year, Kenny [Chery] and Royce [O'Neale] were the only ones in any crunch time [minutes] last year really in the game for us. Maybe Rico [Gathers] or [Taurean Prince] one game here or there but mostly it was just Kenny and Royce so, I think everyone's become more acclimated with that. Lester Medford was outstanding tonight and I think he's gotten more used to the Big 12 play - what he can do and what he can't do. Again, I'm proud of the team."

Senior F Royce O'Neale

On the team's defense down the stretch:
"Good defense leads to easy offense. We just had to figure out a different way to contend. They were making plays, but we had to figure it out on defense, move around more and be active. We turned up our intensity. It led to transition and easy baskets. We had dunk after dunk after dunk. Everyone was being unselfish and sharing the ball."

On how big it is to get these top-25 wins:
"It's real big, especially early for us in conference. We know each game is critical, especially at home - you have to defend your home court."

Junior G Lester Medford

On how much it helps having crunch-time experience:
"It helped out a lot because we kept our poise and kept battling it out. It ended with good results."

On how he got so many open shots:
"My teammates kept moving the ball, and everyone was telling me to relax, step up and hit the shot. Everybody hit shots, everybody moved the ball and we looked good out there."

On how much the crowd helped:
"We were actually talking about it outside, they helped a lot. Our student section was unbelievable and they cheered the whole game no matter if we were up or down."

OKLAHOMA POSTGAME QUOTES

Oklahoma Head Coach Lon Kruger

Opening statement:
"In the first half, Baylor was dictating most of the 20 minutes. I thought we opened the second half with a little bit more life, a little quicker to loose balls. We had an opportunity to get it in decent shape, but still, at the critical time there in the second half Baylor was quicker to the boards. They made plays, made shots during that key stretch when the game was even, and created a little bit of a margin. But we've just got to keep working ahead, keep getting better, realize how important each possession is, and finish opportunities when we can get them. We came up a little short in that area today."

On being frustrated with the defense:
"The ones that came that determined the game were the buckets that we've got to try to fight a little harder to prevent. Again, Baylor is a club that's got good skill and good players. I thought [Kenny] Chery hit some big shots at critical times and made some key plays for them. He's a really good player and I thought he stepped up there at a key time today."

On execution at the end of the game:
"Baylor was in the zone, so they were dictating a little bit. I thought we were getting the ball into some seams and some gaps. We got decent looks at it, a couple of them maybe not quite as much rhythm as we would like. But I thought ball movement wasn't bad. It always comes down to trying to make a few shots against that zone."

On the condition of Isaiah Cousins:
"His wrist bent back and was pretty sore. They're getting X-rays now to see if it's anything more. He wanted to go and tried to go, but it was pretty painful."

On not having Isaiah Cousins in the rest of the game:
"It's hard to put a number on that. I thought Jordan [Woodard] battled and fought through it the entire 20 minutes and made good decisions and made good plays for us. Obviously, we'd like to get him a little bit of a break with Isaiah, but I thought Jordan battled pretty well."

On TaShawn Thomas playing more active in the second half against the zone:
"He was getting down inside. Pretty good position. I thought the second half, he finished a few of those that he didn't quite finish in the first. But the zone is tough when you get it down into 6-8 feet, and then of course, you have to finish it out from there."

Junior G Buddy Hield

On how frustrating their close games have been lately:
"A lot. We've just got to find ways to grind and keep grinding. We've been struggling, but we can get our swagger back. We just have to get clicking again."
