THE RUNDOWN
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Sophomore Trayvon Bromell headlined a group of eight Baylor track and field athletes that recorded top-five finishes at the Rod McCravy Memorial Saturday at Nutter Field House.
The second-year sprinter opened his day by turning in the fastest time (6.58) in 60-meter qualifying and then closed it out by setting a school-record of 6.54 to win the event and tie the fastest time by a collegiate in 2015.
Baylor's athletes also shined in the 400-meter dash as senior Raena Rhone carded a personal-best time of 53.43 to be third, while on the men's side sophomore George Caddick took fifth in 46.92 to record the country's seventh-best mark. Rhone's time is the eighth-fastest in school history and currently the sixth-best nationally.
BU's women were highly successful in the middle distances. In the 800-meters, Olicia Williams was the runner-up in 2:07.37, which is the fourth-best time in school history and eighth nationally. Senior Mariah Kelly broke her own school record in the mile event with a time of 4:39.90 to be fourth. That mark is also currently eight-best in the country. Sophomore Maggie Montoya took fourth as well in the 3,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 9:26.22, which is also ninth nationally.
Finally in the field events, both of Baylor's triple jumpers took fourth. First, Brianna Richardson produced a leap of 42-2.25 [12.86m], while on the men's side Felix Obi jumped 51-3 [15.62m] in his first meet back after a knee injury.
