MORGANTOWN, West Virgina -- Baylor volleyball blanked West Virginia to earn its first conference road win of the season, 25-21, 25-14, 25-23, Saturday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum.
After starting the match on a shaky foot, the Bears rebounded from a 21-17 deficit in the first set with a 9-0 run to grab a 1-0 match lead.
The first set run was aided by a four service ace effort from Andie Malloy, taking over the serving duties to set up the nine point run.
The Bears were lights out in the second set, holding WVU to just 14 points and closing the set on a 7-0 run.
BU was led by a balanced attack, with Shelly Fanning and Andie Malloy both getting 10 kills. One of the biggest contributors to holding the Mountaineers to a .149 attack was a 12-5 block advantage for the Bears.
Led by Adrien Richburg, matching a career-high nine blocks, the Bears added five blocks from Tola Itiola and four from Shelly Fanning.
Hanging point for point through the third set, Baylor closed the match with an attack from Andie Malloy.
