THE RUNDOWN
AMES, Iowa - Baylor soccer fought for a 1-0 win over Iowa State Friday evening at Cyclone Sports Complex. The Bears (7-4-1, 2-0-0) used a first-half goal from
Lauren Piercy to get on top of the Cyclones (5-7-0, 0-3-0) for their seventh straight win -- longest streak since 2012 -- and first 2-0-0 start in Big 12 play since 1998.
The Bears came out aggressive by dominating possession early on, which led to a great scoring chance in the 28th minute. Amanda Hoglund dribbled the ball into the right side of the box and delivered a cross to Piercy in the middle of the box. Piercy pivoted and fired a strike to the top left corner for a 1-0 lead.
ISU battled hard in the second half and ended up leading BU in shots on goal (3-2) and corner kicks (6-4) but was turned away by goalkeeper Sara Martinson three times to preserve the Bears' third straight shutout.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"Anytime you can go on the road and get three points, you're ecstatic. It's hard to win conference games on the road. Lauren [Piercy] was fired up because she didn't get to play last weekend [due to a red card]. She did was she does. Amanda Hoglund played a great ball to her -- another freshmen connection. On the other side, the defense tonight just all-around was great, very proud of our backline posting another shutout. That was a big effort. I'm proud of the way the girls fought to get a win on the road tonight." - Head Coach Paul Jobson
