MANSFIELD, Texas â '¬" Baylor men's tennis freshman Jimmy Bendeck produced a three-set triumph to reach the third round of the qualifying draw at the Futures of Mansfield Sunday at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
After winning in straight sets in the opening round Saturday, Bendeck survived an opening set loss to claim a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 victory over Germany's Vince Schneider.
Baylor's other participant in Mansfield, redshirt freshman Will Little lost in the second record to the draw's No. 1 seed Cameron Norrie, 6-3, 6-1, to be knocked out of the event.
WHAT'S NEXT
On Monday, Jimmy Bendeck will face the draw's No. 2 seed, Axel Alvarez Llamas, at 10 a.m. The winner of that match will earn one of eight spots into the Futures of Mansfield main draw.
At the ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., Felipe Rios will face Valparaiso's Jeffrey Schorsch in the first round of the qualifying draw Monday.
