WACO, Texas -- Baylor women's tennis junior Blair Shankle was beaten in straight sets at the Bush's $50,000 Waco Showdown Monday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Shankle was unable to upset world No. 239 and the draw's No. 1 seed Florencia Molinero, 6-3, 6-0 in the second round of the 32-person singles qualifying draw at the USTA Pro Circuit event. The Dallas, Texas, native was looking to qualify for the main draw with three straight wins in qualifying, but ends the tournament at 1-1.

WHAT'S NEXT
On Tuesday, Elizabeth Profit will be the lone Bear in action at the event as she opens main draw singles action against sixth-seeded and world No. 148 Jana Cepelova. That match is slated to start at 6 p.m.
A session of the Cub Tennis clinic will start at 5 p.m. Children under the age of 11 can come receive free tennis instruction from Baylor players and staff. Tennis equipment will be provided, but athletic clothing, including tennis shoes, is required.
