Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On Alexis Prince getting her diploma before the gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I just tell them I can't promise you playing time, I can't promise you championships, we are working for all that. But I can promise you a degree from Baylor, if you stick with it, go to class and do what you are asked to do. It is very special to see Alexis [Prince] be able to be presented her diploma by Judge Starr, because we won't be here Saturday. Hopefully, her mom will get video of it and get to see it, I know she'll see her mom when we go to Orlando. That's what it is really all about, is to watch kids graduate."
On playing an undefeated team nextà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We have to keep [our players] focused, that's what you worry about. Especially, the new ones because they are excited about going home. They haven't really been home and away from Baylor in a while. You have to keep them focused. That is why we pressed the whole game. I wanted them to get a work out in, I wanted them to make sure we were still thinking about basketball. These two [Nina Davis and Niya Johnson] had their usual nights. I do not know if it is a record, [Johnson] had 18 assists, 19 the other night, to one turnover ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" it has to be some kind of record. I don't know check it out. Nina played a lot of forward, which is her true position. She is just a mismatch for people down there and had a very productive night."
On Beatrice Mompremierà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Beatrice is playing very confident right now. I did not realize she only played 11 minutes, because I was playing so many players. She is getting ready to go to her home state and play against a team that is at her back door. I hope she is excited, I hope she'll play well, because she is playing very well right now."
On early steals sparking the teamà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"The press will do that for you. The press will also get you in foul trouble, if you are not careful. The good part was that we were aggressive with the press, we got a 10 second call, and I don't know if we got that all year. We got a lot of turnovers that we created, and we did not foul. Sometimes it's hard to duplicate 40 minutes of just pressure."
On what to look forward to on Saturday vs. Miami (Fla.)à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"You are looking at a very athletic team in Miami. A very well-coached team. Another ranked team. This will be our fourth ranked opponent. The most ranked teams in non-conference we have played, even on my championship teams, is five. It will be another gage for us to get to see how good we are ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" in a neutral court, which I like, not somebody else's home court."
Junior Nina Davis
On playing forwardà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We just wanted to get out to a quick start. Playing forward is a position that I played for the last two years and it's more comfortable. I wanted to get to a quick start and give my team a spark."
On playing Miamià ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We are just excited to be able to play another top team that is ranked on the top 25 in the country. We know they will come out and they are going to challenge us. We remember what they did last year, when they beat Notre Dame. It's just exciting when you get to play a good team. We have a couple of people that are from Florida, so they are going to go to play at their home area."
Senior Niya Johnson
On having 37 assists in her last two gamesà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I can't get those assists without my teammates making the shots, so I have to give them praise as well."
On Baylor's press helping them earlyà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We started from the jump. I am glad we did, it got us to the flow of the game. It got people running and going out quick to push the ball. I think we did very well."
On playing against Miami (Fla.)à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's going to be fun playing against Miami. They recruited me and I know a few girls on that team. One of them is from Gainesville and I played with her in middle school and then again in high school."
ORAL ROBERTS POSTGAME QUOTES
Oral Roberts Head Coach Misti Cussen
On what can be taken from this gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I think our biggest thing that we wanted to do was we just wanted to come out and compete. I have all freshmen and sophomores this year, and we're really young, and we lost a starter to an injury. None of that puts us within striking distance of beating a team of this caliber, but I think at the same time, I appreciate the opportunity for us to get to challenge ourselves and work on things we need to work on."
On how she prepared for this gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I truly spent more time in preparation for this game just focusing on us. We don't have an answer for [Kalani] Brown, we don't have an answer for [Kristina] Higgins, we're real thin at the post this year, but I just think for us it's the opportunity to be in front of [a big crowd]. I always love Baylor crowds and Baylor fans, because they're really educated on women's basketball, so that's always a good atmosphere to play in. I never mind that [Baylor coach Kim Mulkey] is pressing the whole game because she's wanting to work on stuff and get better also, and that makes us better at the same time. I think just the opportunity, the opportunity to improve and to kind of work on things you need to work on."
On Baylor pressing the whole game and her being OK with ità ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Absolutely, it's all relative. It's kind of where we are to where she is right now, too. I wouldn't want her to not have an opportunity to get a game like tonight. It'd be a shame if they had a game on their schedule that they couldn't get anything out of it. So whatever she needs to do to get out of it, do what you've got to do. She's responsible for getting her program better, and however she needs to do that at game time, it's open season."
