BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening statement:
"I am pleased with the defensive effort tonight. I thought we were outstanding on the defensive end. I thought on the offensive in the paint we were very good. We didn't shoot well from the three, and that's outstanding that you can get a win like this and go 3-for-17 from the three."

On Lester Medford's block:
"He provides great energy, because he's at the top of the defense so everybody sees how active he is. I know the bench loved that block, and the crowd liked the block. Lester is pretty pumped, because guards don't get a chance to show off their blocking skills very often.

On Medford becoming more of a true point guard:
"I think he's settling down and relaxing more out there. He's not getting sped up as much, and that's just him adapting to what we want. He came from a system that was really up and down. He's done a great job adapting. Last year he had Kenny [Chery] dominating the ball a lot, and now he's figuring things out. I can't promise he's always going to have nine assists, zero turnovers, and four steals, but we definitely like that ratio."

On Johnathan Motley's 11-point stretch:
"He was really impressive tonight. That's one thing he's capable of. We're working on him being consistent. He always gives us a lift, but in some games he's so dominant. We would like for him to do that more often, because obviously he's fun to watch when he is."

Sophomore Johnathan Motley

On scoring 11 straight points:
"I was just trying to finish. When my teammates pass me the ball they expect me to finish it, so that's what I was doing. I'm just trying to help the team out, and my job is to finish."

On coming off the bench:
"I like it. It's interesting because I'm used to starting, but it's fun coming off the bench. I enjoy it. I get to cheer my teammates on and get in the rhythm of the game. You get pretty hyped sitting on the bench just waiting to go in."

Senior Lester Medford

On his role during the 14-point stretch:
"It was a team effort. We were just getting stops on defense and helping each other out. We ran an open court and just had fun out there. I'm just playing basketball that's all it is. It's really fun, because we have so many guys that can score the basketball. It's a blast to play for this team."

On trying to be more of a true point guard:
"I'm just trying to win ball games. Whatever it takes. If it means I have to pass the ball to my teammates, score, or play defense ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" whatever it takes to win a game."

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M POSTGAME QUOTES

Prairie View A&M Head Coach Byron Rimm II

Opening statement:
"It was probably our worst game we've played this year. Baylor did a good job of doing the little stuff and stopping our main guys from playing. We didn't come out with any emotion, any enthusiasm. We lost how to play the game of basketball. I really thought that we played well the last few games against Wisconsin and UNLV. We come home to the great state of Texas and we laid an egg. We have to get better. We have to grow up."

On being held to 15 first-half pointsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We just didn't do the little things or take the ball to the net. We weren't running up and down the floor. My wings weren't running. My point guard wasn't pushing and getting the ball down the floor. We were walking up and down the floor. We pretty much lost our mind out there today."

On difficulty defending Baylor's forwardsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We just didn't do what we were supposed to do. We lost them in transition. I don't understand how you can lose Rico Gathers or Johnathan Motley in the post. We just didn't guard them at all. They just destroyed us."

On adjustments for the rest of the seasonà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We have to watch film and get better. I saw a lot of stuff in this game, and I'll watch the game film a few more times and figure it out. We have a week until our next game, so we'll get it corrected."
