BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On attacking from the beginning of the game:
"We're playing on all cylinders right now. Late in the year, you're usually fatigued and I just don't sense any fatigue right now. I thought I substituted very liberally the entire game. My old mentor Leon (Barmore) would tell me I'm nuts for doing that. I've just got that much depth. I thought Dekeiya (Cohen) had her opportunity today and it was good to see her battle in there. Everybody scored. Everybody should feel good about themselves. We've got five more games to go. I thought we dominated rebounding. It was just a challenge to dominate the boards. I have got to rest players. I have got to play players. Probably the only negative of the game was our turnovers. We just don't need to have that many turnovers, but you do expect that when you sub like that."
On turnovers:
"Some of them were in the open floor - trying to push the ball and run. Some of them were the high-low - trying to feed the post and go from post to post. We've just got to clean it up. I guess you become a bit comfortable when you have that big of a lead. You might try some things you don't normally do."
On Baylor's 58 points in the paint:
"We called some different things for post touches tonight, but it wasn't a game we planned going in. It's just the flow of the game and what you need to call. (Alexis) Prince and Amani (Wright) hit some buckets. It just worked out that way. Dekeiya and Nina (Davis) being undersized post players were able to do some things in there. Nina ran the floor. It's just the way it worked out. It wasn't emphasized at all."
Dekeiya Cohen
On if she is feeling more comfortable on the court:
"Yes, I am. When I get in I just try to make good use of my minutes and produce." On facing big post players: "I try to make moves, post moves. We work on that every day in practice. When you're playing someone bigger than you, you have to move around them."
Nina Davis
On her performance early in the second half:
"I did not drink a Red Bull. I don't like it. It's just that time of the year. You just have to come out and play with a sense of urgency and that's what I'm trying to do every game--just come out ready to play."
On the 12-0 run to start the game:
"We just wanted to come out with a quick start. You never want to get behind when you're playing a good team like West Virginia. Just to come out and get a lead like that and continue to keep the lead shows we're growing every day."
WEST VIRGINIA POSTGAME QUOTES
West Virginia Head Coach Mike Carey
Opening Statement:
"It's easy to figure out - 54 points in the paint. They just manhandled us in the paint. Give them credit. They're playing very well right now."
On how the team played:
"We were passive. That's something we talk about in two-a-days--being aggressive, defensively and offensively. It started right off the bat on the pick and rolls. It's unbelievable. We weren't focused and that's a shame. I thought some people for us played hard, but we just couldn't score and they kept pounding us. Either you're on the offensive boards or you're back, and we were just kind of in between the whole time."
On Averee Fields' performance tonight:
"Let's face it, she had some great looks. She usually hits them, but she didn't. But that doesn't give any excuse for them to just pound us in the paint and us not get them back on defense. But Baylor plays hard, and they've got them playing well."
On tonight's game compared to previous matchups against Baylor:
"They were more aggressive. We usually come out more aggressive against them too, and we were just passive on both ends. If you're passive against Baylor, they'll go for the throat now. They were just taking it inside and just handling us in the paint."
