WACO, Texas - Following a 10-0 start to the season, the sixth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will embark on a four-match road trip, starting with a Friday contest at No.15 Michigan and then a battle with 12th-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday.

"We have had a great start so far," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "We are just trying to not get too caught up in the results. I know if we do the right things, the result will take care of itself."

The Lady Bears are 1-0 on the road this season, after having beaten No. 35 Rice, 4-0, on Feb. 13 in Houston. Against ranked foes, BU is 6-0, including a 4-3 win over No. 14 Clemson in its last match out Sunday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

After a 7-0 start to the season in singles action, senior Ema Burgic is ranked No. 19 in the ITA singles rankings. Teammates Blair Shankle (4-0) and Rachael James-Baker (5-2), No. 79 and No.86, give the Lady Bears a trio of ranked singles players. Burgic and Shankle team together to be ranked No. 27 in doubles, after beginning the season 4-1.

"Ema is the alpha dog on the team and the competition knows how good she is," Scrivano said. "It puts a lot of pressure on whoever she's playing against. It's a calming effect on the younger players knowing we will be in good shape in one singles and one doubles. She's a great role model for everybody."

Baylor will meet Michigan at 5 p.m. Friday indoors at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines are 5-2 on the year, but are 3-0 at home in 2015.

Michigan has three ranked singles player in No. 17 Emina Bektas, No. 25 Ronit Yurovsky and No. 97 Sarah Lee. Bektas and Alex Najarian form the No. 11 doubles pair, with Yurovsky and Lee team up as the 48th-ranked pair in the country.

The all-time series between Baylor and Michigan is tied 1-1 with the Lady Bears taking a 5-2 win in Waco in 2009 and then falling by a 4-3 score in Michigan in 2010.

Sunday's match at No. 12 Vanderbilt is slated to start at 1 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville, Tenn. The Commodores are 4-4 overall and will play No. 21 Northwestern Saturday, before hosting BU. Vanderbilt has lost it last three matches, but is 3-0 at home.

The Commodores have four ranked singles players, including No. 15 Sydney Campbell, No. 62 Marie Casares, No. 71 Courtney Colton and No. 89 Frances Altick. Cambell and Colton team together to make the No. 18 duo in the country, while Ashleigh Antal partners with Casares to be ranked No. 32.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series against the Bears, 6-1, including a 4-3 win over BU on Feb. 15, 2014, in Waco.

Following the two matches in three days, Baylor will close out the road trip with contests at No. 21 Northwestern on Feb. 27 and at 22nd-ranked Ohio State on March 1.
