WACO, Texas - The sixth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will host its third doubleheader of the season Sunday against No. 63 Maryland at 1 p.m. and Prairie View A&M at 6 p.m. at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

"Maryland plays in the Big Ten and they know how to compete," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "PVAMU is a team that plays hard every point. We have a lot of respect for these teams. Like any other match or practice it's an opportunity to improve and get better at playing our game."

Baylor also played doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday of last week. In those four matches, the Lady Bears recorded four straight shutouts to move to 6-0 on the season.

Baylor's top three players look to maintain their undefeated records. No. 72 Ema Burgic sits at 4-0 on the season in the No. 1 spot for the Lady Bears. The 49th-ranked Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette have racked up three and six wins respectively by splitting time at the two and three spots. BU has two other ranked singles players in No. 73 Kelley Anderson and No. 101 Rachael James-Baker.

Maryland is currently 2-1 on the season, after wins over Georgia State and William and Mary, and a loss to No. 2 Florida. The Terrapins will face Stephen F. Austin on Saturday before the Baylor match on Sunday. Maryland is led by the 48th-ranked duo of Olivia Gaudreault and Alexandra Stanova. This will be the first time the Lady Bears and Terrapins have met.

Prairie View A&M holds a record of 1-5 after a win over Hardin-Simmons. The Panthers will play Auburn on Saturday before the match against Baylor on Sunday. Baylor leads the all-time series 4-0 with wins in each of the three previous years.

Prior to the PVAMU match, BU will host a session of the Baylor Cub Tennis Program at 5 p.m. Children 11-years-old and under can come to the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday to receive free basic tennis instruction.

Live results for the matches will be available at BaylorBears.com with a live blog available for the Maryland match as well.

Following the doubleheader, Baylor will hit the road for its first away match at Rice in Houston on Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
