3/21/2015 12:00:00 AM | Track & Field
FORT WORTH, Texas - In rainy conditions, Baylor's track and field team produced six event wins on Friday at the TCU Invitational at Lowdon Track and Field Stadium.
Sophomore George Caddick highlighted the day by turning in a time of 46.26 to win the 400-meter dash. It was a collegiate-best and the fastest quarter-mile time in the NCAA in 2015. Caddick's previous college-best mark in the event was 47.76.
In her return to collegiate action, senior Tiffani McReynolds logged a 13.12 to clinch the 100-meter hurdle crown. That time is also best among collegiate athletes in the young 2015 outdoor season.
McReynolds' hurdle counterpart on the men's side, Bryce Grace, won the 110-hurdle event with a mark of 14.05.
Two freshman also shined as Kevin Harris took the 200-meter title (21.26) and Kiana Hawn earned the crown in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.57).
Senior Derwin Graham carded a first-place finish in the 1,500-meter with a time of 3:59.32.
The Bears also had nine runner-up finishes including Brandon Moore (400m, 47.52), Jessica Purtell (800m, 2:14.63), Matthew League (1,500m, 3:59.52), JR Hardy (3,000m, 8:48.90), Taije Jordan (100 hurdles, 13.72), Rhys Phillips (110 hurdles, 14.52), Dannielle Davis (long jump, 17-7.5 [5.37m]), Cion Hicks (shot put, 51-3.75 [15.64m]) and Jenna Pfeiffer (113-0 [34.45m]).

TOP QUOTE #1
"Considering the weather, it was definitely a good day. We got some work and stayed healthy, despite some really tough conditions. George (Caddick) running the way he did in the quarter. To see Tiffani (McReynolds) back in action was nice. That was a great opener for her. Overall, our athletes did a nice job maintaining focus even with the conditions." - head coach Todd Harbour on the meet
WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor will now head south to Austin for the Texas Relays, which start Wednesday. Select student-athletes will also travel to the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, which begins on Thursday.
