Women's Tennis Rolls Past No. 42 Rice, 4-0

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas -
The seventh-ranked Baylor women's tennis team posted a 4-0 shutout over No. 42 Rice Wednesday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

Baylor improved to 17-4 on the year, while downing Rice (9-8) by a 4-0 score for the second-time in 2015.

The Bears made quick work of the Owls in doubles play with the 26th-ranked duo of Kelly Anderson and Leolia JeanJean blowing past Lindsey Hodge and Alison Ho, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot.

Playing for the first time together, Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette wrapped up a 6-3 victory moments later on court three over Natalie Beazant and Liat Zimmerman.

In singles play, the 28th-ranked Blair Shankle cruised past Katherine Ip, 6-2, 6-1, on court two. Minutes afterward, No. 75 Kiah Generette beat Lindsey Hodge, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot to push the lead to 3-0.

Freshman Kelley Anderson clinched the match for BU with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph on court four over Liat Zimmermann.

With the match decided, singles contests on courts one, five and six were abandoned.
