AMES, Iowa - The seventh-ranked Baylor women's tennis team blanked Iowa State, 4-0, Sunday at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.
Baylor improved to 19-4 overall and 5-0 in Big 12 play, while Iowa State fell to 7-11 on the season and 2-4 in league action.
The Bears rolled in the doubles point with the newly formed duo of Blair Shankle and Theresa Van Zyl carding a 6-1 victory on court three to open up the match. Leolia JeanJean and Kely Putri followed that victory by tallying their own 6-1 triumph on court two to give BU the point.
In singles action, the 25th-ranked Ema Burgic downed Samantha Budai, 6-2, 6-0, at the top of the lineup. The 28th-ranked Shankle's 6-2, 6-4 victory over Ksenia Pronina on court two increased the BU lead to 3-0.
To close out the match, the 99th-ranked JeanJean powered to a 7-5, 6-0 win on court four.
