IRVING, Texas - For the second time in less than a month, Baylor women's tennis sophomore Blair Shankle was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

The Dallas, Texas, native went undefeated in two matches this past week, going 2-0 in singles action and 1-0 in doubles play with one doubles contest going unfinished. Shankle helped lead the Bears to a shutout win over No. 36 Texas Saturday and scored one of BU's singles victories in a 4-3 loss to No. 10 Texas A&M Wednesday.

Shankle was the lone Bear to win both her singles matches on the week.

Against the Aggies, Shankle's triumph at the No. 3 spot versus Ines Deheza helped push the BU lead to 3-1, before the Aggies rebounded to take a 4-3 victory.

However, against the Longhorns Shankle beat Ranika Batra, 7-5, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot to clinch the 4-0 shutout for BU. Shankle and partner Kiah Generette also won their doubles match, 6-1, to open the match.

On the year, Shankle is now ranked No. 33 and is 16-2 in dual-match play. She has won seven straight decisions.

It is Baylor's 34th Big 12 honor in the 19-year history of the Big 12 Conference. Shankle was last recognized on March 17, 2015.

In its next match, the eighth-ranked Baylor women's team hosts Kansas Friday at 5 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
