THE RUNDOWN WACO, Texas - The eighth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team advanced to the final round of the Big 12 Championship with a 4-0 win over fourth-seeded and 17th-ranked TCU at the Hurd Tennis Center Saturday.
Baylor improved to 24-6 with the win and 17-2 in home matches.
The Bears topped the Horned Frogs for the second time this season to advance to the Big 12 Championship final for the ninth time in the past 11 years.
BU started strong in doubles play as the 42nd-ranked pair of Leolia JeanJean and Kelley Anderson stormed past Palina Dubavets and Alexis Pereira, 6-1, on court two. Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette clinched the point for BU shortly after when they defeated Sofiko Kadzhaya and Simona Parajova 6-3 in the No. 3 spot.
Anderson started off the singles play with a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sedi Arantekin on court six. The freshman Bear improved to 18-6 this season.
Next, Theresa Van Zyl added a victory over Pereira 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot. The BU newcomer will ride a five-match win streak into the final on Sunday.
Shankle put the Lady Bears through to the final with her straight set victory, 6-2, 6-2, against Kadzhaya on court three. The win gave her a total of 20 on the season. TCU fell to 18-8 with the loss.

Baylor will now face second-seeded and No. 16 Texas Tech on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center in the final round of the Big 12 Championship. The match will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's Championship final, which starts at 12 p.m. The match will be broadcast on FOX Sports 2 and on the FOX Sports Go App.
