April 3, 2015 WACO, Texas - The seventh-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will head to No. 18 Texas Tech Saturday for an 11 a.m. CT Big 12 Conference match at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Baylor (19-4, 5-0) owns a 7-3 record on the road, but took down West Virginia and Iowa State in its last two road matches. This is the first road match against a top 20 team for the Lady Bears since their victory against Ohio State in early March.
Baylor boasts five players ranked in singles. Ema Burgic (13-4) leads the way at No. 25. She is followed closely by No. 28 Blair Shankle (19-6), Kiah Generette (16-7) at No. 75, No. 82 Rachel James-Baker (12-6), and finally No. 99 Leolia JeanJean (12-2). BU also has two ranked doubles duos, the No. 7 ranked doubles team in Burgic/Shankle and No. 26 Kelley Anderson/JeanJean, who are 11-4 and 5-1 in dual-match play, respectively.
Texas Tech (13-4, 4-1) is 8-1 at home and has won its two last matches. The Lady Raiders took a 4-3 match against Oklahoma State last Sunday. TTU has three ranked singles players in No. 60 Lynn Kiro (19-8), No. 90 Sarah Dvorak (19-9), and No. 122 Sabrina Federici (18-3).
BU leads the all-time series against Texas Tech, 25-11, and the Lady Bears are 14-1 under Scrivano.
Baylor has won 20 straight Big 12 regular season matches and has not lost a conference match since March 27, 2013.
