Final Stats

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas
- Baylor (13-19) got back in the win column with a 10-7 victory over UT Arlington (14-17) Tuesday evening at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears scored six combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings to fuel to win.

Trailing 3-0 after the top of the second inning, Steven McLean roped a two-out, two-run single for Baylor to cut into the lead in the bottom of the second. The Bears then tied the game in the third after Adam Toth reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

However, the Mavericks answered right back to regain the lead on an RBI single by Matt McLean in the fourth.

The Bears bounced back with a big fifth inning, though. Logan Brown singled with one out and Toth followed with an RBI double. After a Duncan Wendel single, Kameron Esthay hit a three-run homer to right field off reliever Zach Hobbs to put Baylor ahead for good.

In the sixth, BU added to the lead with an RBI single from Brown and sacrifice fly from Wendel.

The insurance runs were enough to withstand UTA's one run in the seventh and two in the eighth as Sean Spicer gave up one hit with two strikeouts in the last two innings to earn his fourth save.

BU reliever Kody Hessemer (2-1) earned the win, tossing three innings while allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts. Hobbs (1-2) took the loss after giving up five runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

TWEET OF THE GAME

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"We had a good day at work yesterday offensively. I don't say that often but yesterday was a different day. I haven't seen this group of guys have a practice like that. Usually you don't see it during the season. I mean, practice in baseball is not something you look forward to but yesterday was different. I thought there was definitely some carryover today offensively." - Baylor head coach Steve Smith
