WACO, Texas - The seventh-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will open a four-match homestand by hosting No. 10 Texas A&M Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.

After dropping a 4-2 decision at No. 18 Texas Tech Saturday, the Lady Bears will look to rebound against the Aggies, who are on a four-match win streak.

Baylor is 19-5 overall, 12-1 in home matches and 13-5 against ranked foes, while Texas A&M is 12-4 overall and 6-1 in road matches.

Baylor boasts five players ranked in singles. Blair Shankle (14-2) leads the way at No. 30. She is followed closely by No. 31 Ema Burgic (11-4), Kiah Generette (11-4) at No. 85, No. 99 Leolia JeanJean (12-2) and finally No. 108 Rachael James-Baker (7-6). BU also has the 10th-ranked doubles team in Burgic and Shankle, who are 8-4 in dual-match play and the 47th-ranked tandem of Kelley Anderson and JeanJean.

Rachel Pierson leads the Aggies in singles with a No. 38 national ranking. Saska Gavrilovska is No. 45, while Rutuja Bhosale and Stefania Hristov are ranked 52nd and 124th, respectively in singles. Ines Deheza and Hristov lead Texas A&M in doubles with a team-high No. 18 ranking. Pierson teams with Eva Paalma to be ranked No. 33, while Deheza and Pierson are No. 42 and Bhosale and Gavrilovska come in at No. 68.

BU lost 4-2 earlier this season at Texas A&M. In that match on March 19, Baylor dropped the doubles point and only got singles victories from Anderson and Shankle.

A&M now owns a 24-20 lead in the all-time series, including wins in the last six meetings. Baylor is 14-7 under head coach Joey Scrivano against TAMU.

Admission to the match is free and Dr Pepper floats will be served at the start of the match.

Following the match versus the Aggies, Baylor will return to Big 12 play by hosting No. 36 Texas Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Bears will honor lone senior Ema Burgic in between doubles and singles action.
