THE RUNDOWN
MANHATTAN, Kansas - The Bears (11-3, 0-1 Big 12) had a five-game winning streak snapped by the Kansas State Wildcats (9-5, 1-1 Big 12), dropping a three-set match in front of a packed house at the Ahearn Field House.
KSU took early leads in all three sets, controlling the match with a steady attack and staunch defense.
The Bears were led by another stellar performance from reigning Big 12 Rookie of the Week, Shelly Fanning. Fanning tied for the match-high with 13 kills on 22 attacks, good for a .545 hitting effort.
Overall, BU found effective ways to get the offense involved, hitting .287 for the match and over .300 in the first and third sets.
But a near flawless effort from KSU, hitting .388 on the match with seven service aces, proved to be too much for the Bears to overcome.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Shelly Fanning tied for a match-high 13 kills, hitting .545 on the match.
• Jana Brusek led all Bears with 9 digs.
• BU and KSU were even in team blocks, with Andie Malloy and Tola Itiola each getting 3.
