BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statementà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I thought the crowd gave us a great lift and we were able to get a run at the end of the first half. Defensively, they did a great job attacking our zone. Coach Johnson put them in positions to be successful, when we went man we were able to get some stops and get out in transition. Big thing has been our bench the past two games, I believe that is 87 points for us and 18 points for the opponents the last two games, that's pretty good numbers. Anytime you have 27 assist and 10 turnovers, you're doing something right. Rico, Motley, and Maston were 17-21 from the field, so they were very efficient. A lot of positives and, again, this is a Big 12 game and if you don't play well you're not going to be successful. We knew how good TCU was and we knew we had to be sharp tonight."

On Baylor's 13-0 runà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"When we can get some stops and get into transition we are really good. I thought defensively our man was really good at the end of the half and Motley and Maston have given us a great lift. Rico was perfect from the field, Motley missed one and Maston missed three, all three of them really played well."

On Maston's play in conference gamesà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We are feeding him spinach at pregame, but I think you credit the upperclassmen helping bring him along. He has always been a skilled player, he has always had a lot of potential. I think it just shows how much they need him and how good he can be. He has really improved on the defensive end and he has really improved physically with rebounding and fighting for position."

Senior Rico Gathers
On if Maston's confidence has gone upà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I think his confidence has always been there, it is all about opportunity. He has been shining. He had a big game up there at Iowa State and came back tonight and had another big game for us. The best thing about it is we are looking to get him the ball and his creating opportunities for everyone on the court, especially myself when people try to collapse on me. He comes in the game and he is able to hit anything with in the three point line and that is one of the best things about TJ is that he is efficient."

On how big this game isà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It was real big to come and protect the house like we did tonight in great fashion. It was real big for him to come out and have the game he had and as a team we feel real good getting ready to go to Lubbock. We are 3-1, this is probably one of our best starts since I think my freshman year. Our confidence is real high, it is just about staying focused and doing what we have been doing."

Sophomore Terry Maston
On confidence in conference playà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's pretty much playing hard in practice and learning from the older guys, of course Rico has been in front of me for two years. Ever since last year when he talked to me about going out and playing my game and doing what I can do, don't do anything too much, don't try to get into a different role, just play your role ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" that has helped me this year."

On the 13-0 runà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I really think we got out, we started running and saw what worked as a team and we started getting stops. Back to back consecutive stops and that really helped us on the offensive end. It brought confidence to us and the game just came to us and we ran away with it in the second half."

TCU POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Trent Johnson
Opening statement...
"I'll save you a lot of time right now: we're not good, especially in that class. It was 31 to 31 there a little bit, and we took some ill-advised shots, and against a team like this you've got problems. Bad offense leads to good offense for a team that talented and physical. There's not a lot of bright spots, and we really struggled without lack of competitiveness in the second half, but they're good. They caused a lot of problems. I knew [Lester] Medford was a good player. He was a good player last year, but in terms of his overall improvement and how he takes care of the ball and how he distributes it is very impressive. We've got our work to do. Obviously we have been a completely different time when we've been on the road in terms of our overall competitiveness, but that speaks volumes to our lack of mental toughness. It's a 3:30 practice tomorrow, and then on our way to Lawrence."

On struggling against the Bears...
"When they do what they're told to do, and when they do what they've been asked to do, we usually have some good success. When we had three timeouts, we ran exactly what we came up with. Brandon [Parrish] came up and hit a jump shot and hit a three. JD [Miller] had a shuffle cut, but that's the nature of dealing with young people. Sometimes they think they're smarter than the rest of us. Us old people have been around forever. We're not good enough to deviate from the plan."

On the first half...
"I thought we did a really good job with the tempo to our liking when they were in their zone. We were making shots. Obviously there were some guys that were open, and they're open for a reason. They saw that and they got into man and forced the tempo up, and that's where we got ahead of ourselves. They're good. They're talented. They're playing well. It's an impressive group."

On Baylor's Terry Maston...
"He's a good player. They have a bunch of guys running around out there that can play. You bring in Maston, you bring in Motley, sometimes that's not fair. They're talented, they're good."

Junior Karviar Shepherd
On takeaways after tonight's loss...
"I always have confidence in my team. My team is my family, so you've always got to have confidence in your family. We believe that every day we're going to come out and do the best that we can, but we had bad night. We've got to come out to practice tomorrow and work harder than we did. That's the only way we're going to get better."

On moving forward...
"Results will come. I'm confident in my coach. I'm confident in my team. I don't really worry about results if we're working hard. Results will come."
