BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening statement...
"First of all, it was great to have all the military people here. If it wasn't for their service, we wouldn't have opportunities to do what we do. It was great for us to have an opportunity to play in front of them. I thought last year, defensively, we struggled at the three-point line, and I thought we were pretty good tonight. We gave up 23%. Rebounding, that's an area where we have to do a much better job, because you didn't have to box out when Rico could take on two guys and get the ball. That was an area that we definitely need to do better. I thought we shared the ball well. Anytime you have ten assists and zero turnovers from the point guard play, that's pretty hard to beat, so a very impressive performance from Manu. Jo, in his first game, 12 and 9. And the big thing was staying out of foul trouble, especially with Motley not playing. To have four blocks and hold Albert Owens, who's a good player and in their exhibition had 25 points, to 3-for-14 shooting, I thought that was tremendous."
On three-point shooting...
"That's something when you play guards, you hope they make those threes. I thought we had some good looks, and in the second half I thought we did a good job getting to the paint and getting to the three-point line and mixing that up. I thought guys got a little more comfortable at the three-point line in the second half, so that was good."
On Manu Lecomte's debut....
"It's what we've seen in practice. But you never know how it's going to translate to the actual games until they begin. I thought everybody who played, did well. Al, 6-for-9, very efficient, 16 and 5. Take out his turnovers and TJ's turnovers and we were really good at taking care of the basketball."
Junior Manu Lecomte
On getting back to playing in a game...
"It's great. It's a great feeling. I was a little nervous before the game, obviously. I haven't played in a year and a half now, so I was a little nervous, but again, ten assists. I have the best teammates. At the end of the day, I can make good passes, but they have to finish. They did a great job."
On zero turnovers...
"It's a big thing for Coach Drew, taking care of the ball. Just try to not do anything fancy, be effective, and make good passes."
On losing touch from the field...
"The shot wasn't falling during the game, but I'm not too worried about it. Ten assists, I'll take that over missed shots, so I'm good."
Junior Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.
On debut for Baylor...
"It was a relief, finally. I was excited, and kind of nervous at the start, but after the first minute I was acclimated and felt good. It felt great to play."
On if having to step up added any pressureà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"No. I just do my job. I have great teammates. If I'm not having a good night, I know somebody else is going to have a good night. If I'm having a good night, then that's great for me, but at the end of the day it wasn't me trying to go out and have a big night, but more about me doing my job to the best of my ability."

On matching up with the Bears...
"I told our guys, we did some good things. To come here and beat Baylor, we would have to play a great game, and we didn't do that. Especially on the defensive end, they held two of our best players to 6-for-26 shooting. You're not going to beat anybody, you know, any good teams on the road, especially when Albert and Jalen shoot the ball like that, but I thought their defense had a lot to do with that. Those two guys will have great years, but it was just one of those nights where the ball wouldn't go in. Give Jo Acuil a lot of credit on his defense on A.J., because I thought he really effected and altered shots, blocked shots. They're an extremely good team and they shot the ball well, especially from three in the first half. Every time they needed a big shot they made it and every time we needed a big shot to maybe cut into their lead or maybe continue some momentum, we couldn't get it to go down. That's basketball, especially on the road."
On Manu's performance...
"I was very impressed. I thought he did a heck of a job. Obviously he didn't shoot the ball as well tonight, but I take it he's a pretty good shooter. He gets guys involved, gets them easy baskets. He had ten assists and zero turnovers. I mean golly, I was impressed. That's what you want your point guard to do. Get guys involved, make other guys better, and he certainly does that."
