WACO, Texas -- The 45th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to face No. 29 UCLA Saturday at 2 p.m. CT at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
"UCLA is a tough team and they are going to push us at every position," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Our response is going to make all the difference. There is no doubt that we're making progress and improving in this area."
The Bears (4-6) are coming off their fourth-straight loss and have recorded just one win in their last seven matches, after opening the year 3-0.
Baylor recorded its last win against Oregon at home on Feb. 5. Since then, the Bears have faced a string of top-ranked opponents in No. 7 Florida, No. 13 Miami, No. 4 Vanderbilt, and No. 20 Texas A&M. Against the Aggies on Wednesday, Baylor dropped a 4-2 contest in College Station. The Bears are 1-3 on the road this season.
BU is led by the 15th-ranked duo of Kiah Generette and Blair Shankle.
The Bruins hold a 6-3 overall record. UCLA's lineup features Catherine Harrison, ranked No. 19 in singles, and the duo of Harrison and Kyle McPhillips, ranked No. 5. UCLA is coming off a 5-2 win over USC on Thursday.
The all-time series between the schools sits at 5-5, with the Bruins taking a win in the last four meetings. Most recently, in March 2015, UCLA topped the Bears 4-3 in Waco.
After Saturday's action, the Bears will return home to face No. 3 Michigan on March 3 at 5 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
