COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Baylor track and field junior
Chase Hood was Baylor's lone participant on the first day of action at the Charlie Thomas Invitational Friday at Gilliam Indoor Track & Field Stadium.
After completing four events, Hood sits in 11th-place in the competition with 2,456 points. He opened his day by running a 9.53 in the 60-meter hurdles and then followed that up with a 19-9.5 [6.03m] long jump.
Hood had a 32-9.5 [9.99m] shot put and then closed out his day with a 5-11.25 [1.81m] high jump.
NOTABLES
- Hood is competing in his first collegiate heptathlon competition.
- Hood recorded his first collegiate marks in the hurdles, the long jump, the shot put and the high jump.
- Previously, Hood had just competed in the pole vault for the first two seasons of his collegiate career and high jump at the season-opening Texas A&M 11-Team Invitational, but did not record a height.

The heptathlon competition will resume at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The rest of Saturday's action is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. with field and running events. Running event finals begin at 2 p.m.
