NEW ORLEANS - The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams, along with 10 individuals earned All-Academic recognition from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced Thursday.

As a team, Baylor claimed honors on both sides, while nine women and one man were honored individually for their combined work in the classroom and in competitions.

For the women, seniors Justise Dayries and Chelsea Orr, juniors Ashley Fields, Maggie Montoya, Jenna Pfeiffer, Jessica Purtell and Annie Rhodes, sophomore Kiana Hawn and freshman Taylor Bennett received the All-Academic Individual title.

Pfeiffer, Montoya and Rhodes each were honored for a third time, while Dayries, Hawn and Purtell were recognized for the second-straight year.

On the men's side, the lone individual to be honored was senior Richard Hansen, who majors in engineering and earned his second-straight honor.

As a team, the women were one of 220 programs to receive recognition, while maintaining a 3.35 overall team GPA. The men recorded a team GPA mark of 3.22 to be one of 122 teams garnering All-Academic status.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
