BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On winning by 23 pointsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We're human, I thought it was a pretty good team we played. I thought they battled, they were physical, they made sure we didn't dominate the boards, they patched in the zones so the bigs couldn't move, made us shoot perimeter shots, and we won by 23. I'll take that any day."
On choosing the right five startersà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"That's my biggest coaching deal to do this year. I have to stay alert, I have to see what's happening on the floor, I have to realize who can play well with each other, are they zone, are they man, who's tired, who's in foul trouble. That's my job to do that. We're doing a pretty good job of rotating people in and out. Just like tonight, I thought a couple of them were stagnant, just stood around in the zone, weren't finishing shots. I thought Beatrice [Mompremier], {Khadijiah Cave] and [Lauren] Cox were more mobile and they moved more and it allowed us to separate ourselves and take a big lead."
Freshman Lauren Cox
On creating her own shotsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"My shots were definitely falling tonight and I just flashed where I could in open spots and my teammates got me the ball. I found a good spot, we work on it every day in practice so I'm able to hit that shot."
Senior Alexis Jones
On struggling in shootingà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They were giving us the outside shots, but today, myself, I shot very badly. You have bad games and you just have to get back in the gym and get better than you were this game."
On making shots in the first quarter and missing laterà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's just one of those days where the shots just didn't go in."
TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley
Opening statementà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Baylor's really good. They're a really, really good team and I think this is one of their better teams. I'm really proud of our team's fight and I feel like we've really grown. I was really proud of our team and how we competed and really just stuck to a game plan, and you know, Baylor's going to be a really tough team for anybody in our conference to beat. But you throw the ball up for a reason and I know that our team believed and we're going to continue to press forward and keep getting better."
On what she learned about her team over the past five gamesà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They really love each other and they're really committed to each other and are process-focused. To have a schedule that we started with, which is totally uncontrollable and I'm not somebody that's going to get a schedule when they send it to you in July and try and pick it apart and find what's wrong with it and change things, it is what it is. But for a team that has five freshmen and two sophomores that are really like freshmen, that's throwing them in the fire, but I really learned that they just love each other and they're committed to getting better. To come into a game like tonight and continue to show growth and practice the way they're practicing shows a lot about who they are as people and as a team and what they're about."
On tying Baylor in reboundsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I know they've out-rebounded multiple teams this year by 30, so you do have to pick your poison but I think with every single defense you do have to choose what shot you're willing to give up. We had lapses, we had some mistakes but for the most part, I think we were consistent in executing that game plan."
