Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On getting a lead with Kalani Brown not playing much in the first halfÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"It is big for us because it allows us to grow, and gives other people an opportunity to play minutes. If Kalani is going to be an All-American, she has to stop getting into foul trouble early. It has become a pattern now and we don't have enough depth for her to pick up those fouls and not contribute."
On how the defense played in the third quarterÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I don't know that I have coached many teams where we have played games where we defend for a whole quarter and hold them to zero field goals. I told them during the timeout, and maybe I shouldn't have because we didn't play so hot in the fourth quarter, but that is impressive. We will watch film, and those kids that were on the floor and contributed to that will be acknowledged."
Sophomore Juicy Landrum
On being so confident outside the three-point lineÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Yes, sir. I work on it everyday in practice. Shout out to the posts for looking for me."
Senior Kristy Wallace
On getting her shot on earlyÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I think it really helped that Kentucky was focused on our bigs and I was open on the perimeter. The bigs were able to find me with the skip pass and I was able to execute from there."
On how excited she is to play against StanfordÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I am definitely excited to get to play against Stanford. They're a very good program and very well coached. It is great to get to play them here on our own turf. Having a great home crowd is going to be awesome."
KENTUCKY POSTGAME QUOTES
Kentucky Head Coach Matthew Mitchell
On facing BaylorÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"It's a combination of just trying to deal with their size. They really did a great job of scoring early, and I think that as the score started to separate, we, like a lot of teams do, panic trying to get it all back quickly. We just defensively aren't sophisticated enough to try to take something away, and you do have to shoot the ball well against them. We certainly didn't keep our poise as we will be able to later in the season."
On Baylor's inside-out gameÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"As they started to heat up, we didn't try to run them off the line. But when they're shooting the ball great from outside and you have Kalani Brown inside, that's a powerful team. That's a very, very good team ÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬" great guards. I thought [Alexis] Morris was so impressive and such a good player. All of them had a really good game tonight. When you can shoot really well from the three and you have two powerful post players who can score inside almost just as well, it's a lethal combination."
On Baylor Coach Kim MulkeyÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I think what Coach Mulkey is always able to do is assemble a great roster of extremely talented players. You look back through the years and she's done a great job of getting great players together and having them play hard, and it looks like another great Baylor team. They'll be heard from in March, it'll be really good."
