BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On Nina Davis' performanceà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"That's Nina at her best. Nina on the open floor. Niya (Johnson) looked for Nina a lot and could get her the ball ahead of the pack. I think Niya not being here and giving it to her on the open floor has taken away some of her scoring, but also the fact that we have more depth at the post has taken away some of that. Nina was out there and she's an All-American and she realized that this is one of the last two games she's going to play in this gym, so she's just going to play. Late in the year I thought Natalie (Chou), Dekeiya (Cohen) had fresh legs and they were sparks for us today. You rest them as much as you can, quick turnaround and head to Austin Monday."
On Dekeiya Cohen's spark...
"Dekeiya, she's one of the best offensive rebounders we have and she's strong, she could be a college four player. She went in there, she defended well, she altered shots, she got some boards and she was very good today."
Senior G Nina Davis
On her double-doubleà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They're were fronting Kalani (Brown) and she was getting in front of them, so she was able to make some shots. We want her to be more aggressive and I was excited to get myself going so it just happened that way."
On her performance tonightà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I definitely felt like I was in my rhythm out there, just being aggressive and doing what my team needs."
Sophomore C Kalani Brown
On defending Kaylee Jensen...
"I look at it as an accomplishment. She's a very good player. I like to deal with her on both sides of the floor and she really pushes you physically and I'm happy that I did good both times staying focused and remembering what I did last game, trying to stay out of foul trouble helped me."
On the Texas matchupà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We've got to come out with that fire and match their intensity. One thing about Texas is in the last game we were on our heels. We let them get us on our heels and by the time we came back it was too late, so we've just got to come out fighting, come out swinging and everybody's got to be ready to play."
OKLAHOMA STATE POSTGAME QUOTES
Oklahoma State Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening statement...
"I'm not totally displeased the way we played. We are challenged offensively a little bit and to come in and score 67 and I think we missed five point blank two footers, we gave ourselves an opportunity to be in the 70s. Baylor just makes you pay for every little miss cue that you make. They've got a lot of quick jumpers, a lot of people that attack the glass."
On Nina Davis' performanceà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"She's been here eight years, hasn't she? I walked through the line and I said, 'you finally graduating?' and she laughed and said, 'yeah I'm finally out of here,' but it's a unique athlete that is so bouncy, so quick off the floor. I've been in this league 13 years and I don't think I've seen somebody miss their own shot and get it back so many times. She's bouncy, she pops up, she gets the rebounds. You've got to guard her with a four with other people they put on the floor and it's just a matchup nightmare having to guard her with someone slower because she'll drive baseline, she'll spin dribble, she's become a very good free throw shooter and again, I congratulated her for graduating. I'm glad she's gone and that's a compliment. She's an outstanding player."
On Kalani Brown's dominant sizeà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"She blocked the first shot of the game and you can't become mental when you're a post player playing against 6-7. It's the nature of the game, you're going to get some shots blocked. How you respond to that tells a lot how the rest of the night is going to go. Kalani's strong. Kalani isn't moved. She's not only a really good offensive player, she's a really good defensive player and hard to score over."
