THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas -
The No. 16 Baylor women's tennis team (12-4) snagged a 4-1 victory over No. 32 USC (4-6) in Indian Wells, Calif., on Friday night. The Lady Bears are 4-3 this season against ranked opponents following the BPN Paribas Collegiate Challenge presented by Oracle win.

The Trojans scored first, grabbing the doubles point after No. 21 ZoÃÆ' « Katz and Gabby Smith notched a 6-1 victory over Theresa Van Zyl and Rhiann Newborn at the No. 2 position. USC clinched the point at the No. 1 doubles spot as Rianna Valdes and Madison Westby defeated No. 18 Blair Shankle and Elizabeth Profit, 6-4.

Freshman Jessica Hinojosa started the comeback for Baylor, registering the first point with a sweep of Sydney Van Alphen at the No. 6 singles position, 6-0, 6-1. No. 11 Shankle followed with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of No. 25 Gabby Smith at No. 1 singles. Freshman Angelina Shakhraichuk added to the Baylor lead with a triumph over Angela Kulikov, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 singles, before Van Zyl clinched the match at No. 4 singles with a victory over No. 113 Madison Westby, 6-1, 6-3.
