THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas --
The No. 13 Baylor women's tennis team added to its resume with back-to-back matches on Thursday, March 2, at Hurd Tennis Center. After notching a 6-1 victory against Incarnate Word (3-8) in the morning, the Lady Bears (9-2) recorded a 4-0 triumph over Old Dominion (6-4) in the nightcap for the sweep.

MATCH ONE
The Lady Bears flew past the Cardinals in doubles, securing the first point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2, respectively. Senior Rhiann Newborn and freshman Jazzi Plews defeated Maria Batchinsky and Alejandra Tamayo at the No. 3 doubles spot to put Baylor ahead, 1-0.

Baylor carried the momentum from there, winning five of six singles matches for the win. No. 105 Newborn secured the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Rachel Sadiq at No. 2 singles, and freshman Jessica Hinojosa followed closely behind, defeating Sarah Savedra at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

For the fifth time this season, junior Theresa Van Zyl clinched the team result with a triumph over Victoria Kareh, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot.

Opting to play it out, sophomore Karina Traxler added to Baylor's total with a win over Maria Batchinsky at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 1 position, sophomore Liz Profit notched the final Baylor point over Matea Zemunik, 6-3, 6-3.

MATCH TWO
Baylor continued to play well in its second dual match of the day against Old Dominion on Thursday evening, jumping ahead early with the doubles point.

The No. 3 doubles duo of seniors Blair Shankle and Rhiann Newborn kicked it off with a dominant 6-1 win over Borislava Botusharov and Marijana Novakovic. Baylor's freshman pair of Angelina Shakhraichuk and Jessica Hinojosa keyed the doubles point with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 slot.

Shakhraichuk secured the first singles point, playing in the No. 4 position, with a two-set, 6-1, 6-0, victory over Eliska Petrackova. Sophomore Liz Profit added the third point, defeating Holly Hutchinson at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-3, 6-1. She is 2-0 when competing in the top singles spot for Baylor this season.

Junior Theresa Van Zyl clinched the second dual match of the day and the sixth of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Adriana Rajkovic at the No. 3 spot.
