No. 15 WTEN Prevails Over No. 24 Texas

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas --
The No. 15 Baylor women's tennis team (17-5) defeated No. 24 Texas (10-7) 4-2 at the Hurd Tennis Center on Wednesday night. The Lady Bears move to 5-2 in Big 12 play and 6-4 against ranked foes following the victory.

The Lady Bears clinched the doubles point after freshman duo Angelina Shakhraichuk and Jessica Hinojosa bested Daniella Roldan and Dani Wagland, 6-2, at the No. 3 position. The doubles pair of senior Blair Shankle and sophomore Karina Traxler excelled over No. 65 Petra Granic and Bianca Turati, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot, solidifying the doubles point for the lead.

At the No. 6 singles position, Hinojosa added another Baylor point as she triumphed over Daniella Roldan, 6-2, 6-4. Junior Theresa Van Zyl followed with a win over Dani Wagland, 7-5, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot.

No. 5 Shankle fought head-to-head in a three set thriller against No. 36 Bianca Turati, and succeeded to clinch the match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
