
Bendeck Gains Valuable Davis Cup Experience

WACO, Texas ÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬" After opening the tournament with a perfect first day at the Davis Cup for Honduras, Baylor men's tennis junior Jimmy Bendeck went on to collect two more doubles victories and a singles win in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Against Jamaica on last Thursday, Bendeck helped clinch a playoff berth with a doubles victory. Paired with Keny Turcios, Bendeck defeated Jacob Bicknell and Rowland Phillips, 6-3, 6-4, to key the 2-1 team result.
Bendeck and his doubles partner Ricardo Pineda fell in a tightly contested match to Puerto Rico's Sebastian Arcila and Alex Llompart, 7-6, 7-5, the following day. Puerto Rico handed Honduras its first loss of the Davis Cup, 3-0.
Against Uruguay, Bendeck fell in straight sets to Margin Cuevas, 6-4, 6-0, in Honduras' 2-0 loss.
Bendeck gained valuable playing experience in his first Davis Cup, which was held at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club. He closed the tournament with a 2-1 doubles mark and a 1-1 singles record.
Bendeck, who was rated No. 120 in the final Oracle/ITA rankings, compiled a 24-12 record overall for the Bears this season, including a 13-7 mark in dual match play.
