Bears Pick Up Wins at Longhorn Invitational

Frantzen and Soto advance to doubles semifinals on day one

AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor men's tennis players Constantin Frantzen and Matias Soto picked up two wins on day one of the Longhorn Invitational Friday at the Texas Tennis Center in Austin.
In doubles action, Frantzen and Soto paired up to top Tulane's Tyler Schick and Tim Ruetzel, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.
The Bears then went a combined 1-3 in singles action. Soto captured a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Texas Tech's Ilgiz Valiev and then dropped a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0(6) decision to UCF's Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi in the quarterfinals of the gold bracket.
Frantzen fell 6-3, 6-3 in his opening match to UCF's Trey Hilderbrand and moved into the red bracket. He then dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to Tulane's Hamish Stewart to close out day one.
