On Kristy WallaceÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Guys. Use every adjective you can imagine, just senior. Thank God for seniors. Competitor, tough, just an inspiring kid to watch play basketball. She makes you play harder. She makes you play harder when you are on the floor with her. I guess the only thing that took her out of the game was a trainer needed to put something up her nose, and then she went back in and played with it in her nose. Kristy Wallace and Dekeiya Cohen have led our basketball team the way you want seniors to lead them, and they don't require a lot of attention. They aren't high maintenance kids. They just go out every night and do their job."
On Kristy's chase-down blockÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"And the crowd went nuts! Man that's just Kristy. We see it every day in practice, and y'all see it during the games. This is how that kid practices every day. The only difference now is her freshman year when she would mess up she would beat the heck out of that floor with her hand, and I told her you're going to break your hand one day, so she's not doing that in practice anymore. She just plays like that every day. She just is high energy and she is one of those that you're blessed to coach because you don't have to prod her to get her going. You know what you are going to get out of Kristy."
On Naismith Hall of FameÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I came to Baylor to get a pay check and to try to get them out of the dweller of the Big 12. I came 18 years ago. Honestly, under circumstances that I always said thank God for unanswered prayers. Remember the story about how I got here and Louisiana Tech not giving me a five-year deal. Life is just, throws you curveballs and you either hit those curveballs or you strike out. Well, I'm not one who is used to striking out. I just believed when I came here, there was a vision to build a program. Little did I know that we would be able to build it as fast as we did and win a national championship in five years. Then, we had to keep feeding that old monster and I think we keep feeding that monster. We're disappointed when we make just an Elite Eight. We have made four Elite Eights and sitting here like were a failure. I think a lot of coaches would love to have that. If I'm ever fortunate enough to make it in there, I hope Baylor will help me pay for every kid I have ever coached to go there because I'm only as good as they are. I'm only as good as those coaches who bring me those kids. I might tweak a little thing here and there, and I might add a little motivation, but in the end they make a coach. I'm humbled and honored."
Junior Kalani Brown
On playing with Kristy WallaceÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Kristy is our energizer bunny. She is the glue that holds the team together. She's a great leader and a great example for me for next year for my senior year on how to lead a team. She is just great to play with on and off the court."
Senior Kristy Wallace
On her shooting and on if she has been practicing her shotÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Yeah I have. But I think it is just a mental game with shooting and you have missed in a few of your past games. I think it is just a mental thing and you keep shooting the ball. If you are open, shoot it. My teammates were able to find me. Like Kalani, she was getting double teamed, triple teamed and Lauren down there, so they were able to find me."
KANSAS POSTGAME QUOTES
KU Head Coach Brandon Schneider
On not getting shooting opportunities in the second halfÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Well we really thought to give the competitive effort we were going to have to shoot 30 to 35 threes, and we gave up way more open looks then I would have wanted. I thought that we passed some up, but I also thought Baylor made some adjustments in getting back to shooters."
On getting the game to six points in the second quarter and not capitalizingÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Well we couldn't capitalize. Tyler Johnson is a player that we like to go inside to. When Baylor's two bigs were out we tried to go inside four possessions in a row and couldn't get her a touch. We were frustrated with that."
On not having that third scorerÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"It's hard when you don't have a paint presence. Baylor is who they are because of their post play. Then you have a kid like (Kristy) Wallace and how she played today, and that makes them difficult to beat. Having that inside out punch."
On Baylor not having a lot of turnoversÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"We are a team that doesn't have a lot of depth. So to get in passing lanes against them and you just have to get back and try to get in the lane. They are good at points in the paint, and the frustrating thing with us was the turnovers we committed. I thought the difference in the game was the 34 points off our 24 turnovers. There were a lot of instances where we passed up some threes and I would much rather us get back in transition off a three-point shot then off a turnover."
On Kristy Wallace's play todayÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"When she is playing like that it makes them very good. I think is (Kalani) Brown is the best post player and matchup in the country. There maybe one or two teams in the nation that can single coverage her so you have to help. I think (Kristy) Wallace is having a terrific season, and she made a hustle play that I plan to show our team. She brings that competitive play every play."
Junior Christalah Lyons
On Baylor's defense in the second halfÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"We just didn't knock down the open shot, but they played some good defense so credit to them. It was nothing that they did just in the second half we just threw the ball away too many times. We just kept trying to shoot the ball and shoot the open shot."
